This mechanical Parachute Reefing Cutter comes straight off a huge MOD cargo chute.
Two of these are used to control the rate at which the parachute opens, protecting the cargo from being shock loaded.
These reefing cutters can be reset and reused.
We're very excited to have sold these cutters to space agencies who are testing them on recoverable payloads that they hope will reach altitudes of 100km.
